SHILOH REFORMED CHURCH STATEMENT OF FAITH
We believe in one God who eternally exists in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God the Father is the Creator and Sustainer of all things. God the Son, Jesus Christ, was born of a virgin fully God and fully man, lived a sinless life, suffered and died on the Cross, and rose from the dead so that we might be forgiven of our sins and experience an eternal, loving relationship with God. God the Holy Spirit indwells believers upon their receiving Christ as Lord and Savior, guides and empowers them to live Christlike lives, and gives each believer spiritual gifts for the building up of His Church.
We believe the Holy Bible is the inspired Word of God and is the final authority on faith and life for all Christians.
We believe that there is only one way to salvation and that is through acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.
We believe that because God loves all people, He calls His Church to love all people. Holy Scripture clearly leads us to understand that the Church is the body of Christ made up of all believers who accept Jesus Christ as Savior and follow Him as Lord.
FAMILY & MARRIAGE
We believe that God instituted marriage between male and female as the foundation of family and the basic structure of human society. Therefore, the only marriage ordained by God and practiced by this church is the union of one man and one woman. Children are a gift from God, and parents are responsible for teaching and modeling Christian values for them.
We believe in two sacraments given to the church by Jesus Christ. A sacrament demonstrates the work of God in the life of the believer.
Baptism – We believe that baptism by water is a sacred event modeled by Jesus Christ who instructed the church to baptize in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
The Lord’s Supper – We believe that the Lord’s Supper is a sacred event that helps us to remember Christ’s sacrificial death on the cross and our commitment to follow Him. Communion offers us the opportunity to celebrate our unity in Christ and to experience His presence by receiving the bread and cup.
